Dear Dance Artists,

Eveoke Dance Theatre is proud to announce the return of Celebrate Dance Festival, August 22-24, 2008!  For three days, this free event in Balboa Park will boast more than 75 artists and organizations in performances and workshops on three stages.  The festival provides full theatrical production support, schedule/ listing in the CDF brochure, and extensive marketing/ public relations support to participating artists. 

In our efforts to produce an event that is sustainable both financially and energetically, we have created a CDF Community Council—a committed group of CDF advocates who have put their heads together to discuss the challenges and opportunities that face the event.  Based on issues discussed by the Council, this letter outlines changes being made to the production of Celebrate Dance Festival in 2008.  

• The maximum performance length at any venue is 30 minutes.  There is so much interest in the event that we believe we can offer more performance slots this way. 
• Workshops in 2008 will only be held on the outdoor stages as part of the performance schedule.  We will not be using the dance studios.  The Council has discussed the expansion of the workshop component of CDF in the future, but this year we are focusing on the performance venues. 
• Celebrate Dance Festival now requires a participation contribution in the amount of $50.00.  Your contribution will be applied directly to programming expenses for the event.
• CDF can boost the overall value of your participation by using all funds raised to support high quality production and marketing.  Therefore, we are not offering artist stipends.

We believe these changes are in the best interest of the festival as a whole.  We want to see this event grow for many years to come.  With your help and understanding, Celebrate Dance Festival will continue to be a great success!   

If you are interested in participating in CDF, please submit a complete registration packet (a checklist is provided for quick reference) no later than March 31, 2008.  You will receive your confirmation no later than May 5, 2008.  In the spirit of celebrating dance in San Diego, we sincerely hope you will consider joining us.
