  Outreach Class Descriptions

Eveoke Dance Theatre’s Outreach Programs are custom created to fill the needs of San Diego’s diverse neighborhoods.  We work closely with youth service organizations, schools and community centers to provide the best in dance education to youth everywhere.  We also work with Critical Hours programs and 6 to 6 programs.  All classes, residencies, workshops, touring performances, and assemblies are presented by professional dancers from Eveoke Dance Theatre.  While we primarily teach hip-hop dance for off-site outreach programs because of its accessibility and appeal to both boys and girls, we also offer jazz, modern, ballet, creative movment and tap.  Our outreach programs can be thematically tailored to meet any community or school’s needs.  Some favorite focus areas include self-esteem, personal physical health, non-violent problem solving, literacy, math, and science.  We provide sound systems and appropriate music and materials for all of our teaching programs.

Classes & After-school Programs
Our class sessions (during the school day or after-school) range from 6 to 34 weeks and the minimum length of a class is one hour weekly.  Each class is taught by a master instructor and a teaching assistant (if needed) for a class size of up to 50 participants in whichever style of dance is selected.  Bilingual teaching staff is available.  The site must have an adequate dance space.

Residencies
Residencies are concentrated sessions with professional dance artists wherein the participants can create an original performance project for presentation.  Residencies usually connect with the school curriculum and can occur during the school day or after-school.  A minimum residency contract is 4 hours per week for 2 weeks.  Residencies are lead by one master instructor for a group of up to 50 participants. Many of our residencies are contracted for a full school year (October – June).

Master Classes
Our master classes focus on a clear goal that is created through a partnership with the Eveoke staff and the contracting agency.  Workshops are led by 1-2 master instructors and are typically booked singularly at a minimum of 1 ½ hours per workshop.  Workshops can be led in all styles of dance for a class of up to 50 participants.
