March 2009
Dear Eveoke Friends,
Thanks to you, we are thriving and reaching greater numbers of people who need art now…more than ever before. Small and large financial contributions have allowed us to continue to train, teach, and inspire students, artists, and audiences to understand their impact and the inherent choice we all have to choose compassion over violence, community over isolation, and action over apathy.
We would like you to know that Eveoke is …
- Celebrating our 15th Year and entering the 2nd year at our new facility in North Park.
- Teaching 50 outreach dance classes in schools and neighborhood centers reaching 3,000 youth weekly.
- Training young dancers to perform at 80+ school assemblies and multicultural events reaching more than 28,000 audience members per year.
- Creating 2 original dance theatre works per year for our Concert Company
- Producing the 13th Celebrate Dance Festival this summer in Balboa Park.
- Serving our immediate neighborhoods (North Park & City Heights) through a collaborative project called Art @ the Core funded by The San Diego Foundation.
Every dollar you contribute to Eveoke does make a difference. The youth in our programs who walk and dance with such heart and leadership testify to this difference. The schools we partner with, struggling with their own budgets, are grateful for the enrichment programs Eveoke provides. Community members tell us every day how their lives have more beauty, depth and connection because of our performances and neighborhood outreach
In this current economy your support empowers us and adds fire to our determination to deepen the quality and reach of our work. We are committed to San Diego for years to come, and your generous contribution will support our youth, individuals and families (as well as our artists and audiences) in their efforts to impact the community through intention-based art.
With great appreciation,
Nikki Dunnan Erika Malone
Executive Director Director of Development
“Eveoke Dance Residencies have ignited our students’ love of dance and appreciation for the performing arts. You can literally see the students transform before your eyes.”
